Are you preoccupied with food and weight such that it is difficult to enjoy daily life? Are you uncomfortable in your body? Is your self-worth and mood based on what you eat and the scale? Does your eating feel out of control? If these are your struggles, I can help you.
I have the privilege and experience of providing psychotherapy for a wide range of mental health and addiction issues and have specialized in the treatment of eating disorders since 2005. I guide people in the process of recovery while helping to develop a healthy relationship with food and a healthy body image. By exploring the underlying themes that fuel the eating disorder, regulating emotions and finding alternatives to coping, healing is possible. While I have a specialty in eating disorders, I also work with individuals, couples and families of all ages to improve daily functioning, relationships and quality of life. I genuinely care about the well-being of those who come in to seek help during some of their most difficult times. It is my intention that those I work with will receive professional and compassionate help.
I have Bachelor degrees in Psychology and Communication from the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John’s University, Saint Joseph, Minnesota. I have earned a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Houston, Houston Texas. I am also a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS) and serve as the Certification Chair for the Orange County International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP). I am a member of California Association for Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT). My therapeutic approaches are both short-term and long-term, depending on your goals and needs. The therapies I utilize include Psychodynamic, Client-Centered, Brief-Solution Focused, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Interpersonal and Mindfulness-Based therapies.
